Stanford Education Entrepreneurial ECorner Web Page
Name of Web site/Resource: Stanford University’s Entrepreneur Corner Web Address: http://ecorner.stanford.edu/ Content Level: College Level and Above Summary: This is Stanford University’s web site for entrepreneurs and innovation thought leaders. It offers free videos and podcasts of speakers. Strengths: Web site offers a multitude of speakers from major companies on a variety of topics for college level and above (and possibly upper level high school). Can use these speaker videos and podcasts in a multitude of classes for history, sociology, business, leadership, finance and information on careers so applicable to all college instructors and also on current issues and strategies too and innovation. Weaknesses: Not suited for under upper level high school but I teach college. Limited subjects the speakers talk about. Requires the right technology to play on student’s computers if used outside of class. Probably more business and entrepreneurial-focused but could relate these topics in other classes. Some videos may be five years old. Why I Am Recommending: This is a great way to have phenomenol speakers like Mark Zuckerburg (Facebook Founder) and Jack Dorsey (Twitter founder) “live” in your class. There are a variety of topics and interesting subjects to explore and use to supplement your classes. Students in my classes liked hearing them as they related to subjects we were covering. Two Ways to Use Web Site Information: 1. Use it for supplementing your class to show live examples and experts on subjects. For example, Jack Dorsey talks about the “birth of Twitter”. This could relate to many different topics and he talks about how to be inspired. 2. Use it for your online classes to enhance their learning since online can’t have “live” speakers and can use podcasts also. |
